Fleming Loggersports Competition
Phoenix Hosts 40th Anniversary of event November 2
Members of the community are invited to come out and help celebrate 40 years of logging heritage, competition and fun at the annual Fleming Phoenix loggersports competition.
The 40th anniversary of the loggersports competition takes place on Saturday, November 2 at the Frost Campus in Lindsay and members of the men and women's team are pumped to put their skills to the test.
Admission to the competition is free and members of the public can come out see events that include log throwing, wood chopping, pole climbing, and axe throwing.
Opening ceremonies begin at 8 am, with the competition kicking off at 8:30 and running until 4 pm. A blasting demonstration will also take place at 1 pm as the competition coincides with Fleming's Open House.
The Fleming Phoenix will compete against schools including McGill University, University of New Brunswick, Dalhousie University, Lakehead University, University of Toronto and Algonquin College.
The competition falls under the Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association (CILA).
